Philosophy

Over my years of experience as a gardener it has become clear to me that there is no right or wrong way to have your garden. I have learned to adapt around a person's individual needs to make their garden the ideal space for them to enjoy.

About myself

I started gardening at 18. Before then, I cut grass at home, for various relatives and for family  friends, to earn pocket money. I was quite popular at this as I had a great eye for detail, even at an early age, I believed that lawns should have nice stripes on them. At 18 I was employed to work at an old victorian manor house. Here I learned the basics of gardening. The garden itself was formal in the front with fantastic hebaceous borders to the rear. This style of garden worked well for the house and with nice sharp lines and beautiful borders it was a lovely place to learn the art.

From there I worked with several different gardening firms and learned different styles of gardening. I can honestly say that there is no right or wrong way to garden and it all depends on the space you have to work with and what a garden actually means for you. If you want a space for resting then lovely softpinks and purples and the sweet  scent from a summer jasmin will never disappoint. If you love cooking and have enough room to work with, a lovely herb garden with perhaps an area for growing your own vegetables is fantastic. If you wish to have a simple garden, then grass and small shrubs and perenials works well, it is up to you and what you want from your outside space.

Almost 20 years later, what I really enjoy about gardening is the transformation. You plant shrubs, trees and perenials and before long it softens the hard walls, or sheilds an unsightly fence or oil tank. All it takes, is for you to decide! "I want to grow flowers by the house and a pretty hedge in front of the shed," so we can plant the screens and open areas up or put up trellis and plant climbers. Growing fruit trees for early blossom, sweet pears or apples for later that year. All you have to do is to plant them and they will do the rest for you. With a bit of maintenace your garden will be beautiful and exactly how it suits you.

So I hope with my experience and understanding, we can keep a garden that makes you happy. Look forward to hearing from you.
